Dam and Lake Terrain
Dam and Lake Terrain

The narrow multibeam exploration system (SeaBat 8125) provides quality 3D data of underwater terrain (waterbed) at a low cost. At the same time, it is useful in checking, maintaining, and managing issues such as the depreciation and damage of underwater facilities, such as breakwaters. PASCO not only estimates the volume of sedimentation on the waterbed and changes in the degree of variation using the narrow multibeam exploration system (SeaBat 8125), but also makes use of 3D underwater variation analysis technology based on 3D-GIS (3D Geographic Information System) to make proposals for the effective use of water depth data obtained through conventional bathymetry surveying methods.

  • Topographical surveying of dams and lakes, and studies of dam sedimentation through the active utilization of precision topographic surveying technologies.
  • Coastal topographical surveying, coastal erosion studies, and studies on the volume of sediment at estuaries through the active utilization of precision surveying technologies.

  1. SeaBat 8125 is a wide-sector, wide-swath, focused multibeam sonar system.
  2. SeaBat 8125 has higher resolution as compared to other models. As such, it is effective in acquiring detailed data on underwater terrain, and in estimating the volume of sedimentation and degree of variation on the waterbed (changes in sedimentation position).
  3. At the same time, it boasts the superior ability of capturing the damage situation of base structures such as breakwaters, as well as the bottom of bridge piers and the port facility walls behind a pier. Thus, it is effective in studying the conditions of structures of important ports and facilities in each region that is struggling with the management of facility depreciation.
  4. The former 9001 model was rough in the sense that it had 60 beams within a swath width of 90°, with a beam interval of 1.5°. In contrast, the 8125 model has 240 beams in a direction orthogonal to the ship, within a swath width of 120° with a beam interval of 0.5°, sending out waves and carrying out detailed sounding activities to acquire data that has not been measured to date.
  5. This sounding beam updates sounding data of water depth resolution 6 mm at a maximum speed of 40 times per second.
  6. In tandem with the sounding data, as data on the reflection intensity of the waterbed is output at the same time, it is possible to carry out quality management of the data in real-time.
