Collecting and analyzing Geospatial Information

TerraSAR-X is a German satellite that was developed and operated as a public-private partnership (PPP) project between the German Aerospace Center (DLR), a representative German government agency, and EADS Astrium, the leading European satellite company. Infoterra GmbH, a 100% subsidiary of EADS Astrium (Infoterra GmbH is currently one of the entities of Astrium Services - GEO-Information) is responsible for the only commercial provider of TerraSAR-X services worldwide.

PASCO established a partnership agreement with Infoterra GmbH in 2005 and secured not only the exclusive distribution rights for the Japanese market but also to receive TerraSAR-X data directly from the satellite. Additionally PASCO has non-exclusive distribution rights on the global market case by case. PASCO provides data imaged or acquired by TerraSAR-X to users in Japan and around the world, as well as new services generated from this data.

- Processing Level -

For each TerraSAR-X basic image product, customers may select one of the following four processing levels shown below.

(Single Look Slant Range Complex)
Complex data that contains amplitude and phase information
MGD
(Multi Look Ground Range Detected)
Ground range data that has undergone multi look processing
GEC
(Geocoded Ellipsoid Corrected)
Data obtained by subjecting MGD to map projection (Datum WGS84, UTM or UPS projection)
EEC
(Enhanced Ellipsoid Corrected)
Data obtained by topographically correcting GEC

Ordering Method for TerraSAR-X Data

- New Imaging or Acquisition (Sale of Data) -

We take on new imaging or acquisition requests for TerraSAR-X for regions all over the world, with no distinction made between domestic and overseas imaging.
*PASCO owns ground stations in Japan, and performs post-imaging processing speedily. Options for priority imaging are also available. (In units of scenes)

We can carry out imaging in a way that meets the needs of our customers, such as the specification of acquisition dates for priority and highest priority imaging.

Archived data from around the world is available for sale. We apologize for the trouble, but kindly inquire separately with a PASCO sales representative on the archive service areas. (Data is provided in scenes.)

License Agreement for TerraSAR-X

TerraSAR-X data may only be used upon the customers' agreement to the "Infoterra End-User License Agreement." Single user licenses and multi-user licenses are available. Please inquire with a PASCO sales representative with regard to multi-user licenses.

The state-of-the-art synthetic aperture radar (SAR) satellite TerraSAR-X, launched on June 15, 2007, is an earth observation satellite that is the first in the world to provide services using X-band microwave sensors. Microwaves penetrate rain and clouds to transmit from space, and the resultant waves that are backscattered from the ground surface and structures are observed. It is therefore possible to get a grasp of the ground situation by imaging day or night, and regardless of atmospheric weather conditions. As a result, it is possible to collect information in a planned manner using optical satellites, a task that was previously fraught with difficulties due to the impact of sunlight and other weather conditions.
